Abstract

Creative thinking plays a vital role in improving human life and result in never-ending global science and technology development. Consequently, creative thinking is a skill that needs to be instilled and encouraged among children and youth since it is also conducive to necessary 21st century skills that help children confront the modern world with confidence on account of their adaptive capability to changes. Promoting learners’ creative thinking should emphasize the development of their original thinking, artistic imagination, aesthetic and arts appreciation, all of which have an impact on life since they could develop awareness of changes, an ability to put knowledge in everyday life, profession, and technology to practical use with creative thinking and competitiveness in both Thai and universal societies. This expectation requires participation and collaboration from all persons involved in organizing learning processes for children and youth. Accordingly, fundamental education in creative thinking is composed of meanings, significance, factors, levels of categorization and benefits of creative thinking, which lead to the utilization of this knowledge, by interested persons, in further study and research and as well as the application of such knowledge for individuals’ self-interest as well as the benefits of a particular society.
